i may be dating myself because this is somewhat similar to the device I had back in the 2000s, except mine had mostly Tetris on it and there were something like 5/26 that weren't Tetris, so this thing is actually pretty close to what I actually had in that it's got 26 games and they're labeled A-Z

I ordered a Batch 1 when there were about 5k units left on the launchpad so it should ship by January at the latest

iirc yes, and that's kind of always been a problem in the PC ecosystem, even when they were advancing from 4.77MHz to 8MHz and 10MHz, which is why turbo buttons existed (and depending which way they were wired, Turbo either lowered the clock speed for compatibility or let it run at full speed)

There's only one completely foolproof way to have compatibility with basically all PC games, and that's to have a lab of working machines of varying geriatricity, which are kitted to play games of a certain era (and anything prior to Vista can't run Steam, so abandonware sites are the play)

about that, Steam used to be supported on Windows XP and now isn't, and on my RTX 4060, I've experienced big physics glitches in games like Far Cry 2 from the XP era, and some games have online-only DRM from others that make them unplayable.

So It Depends(TM). Still better than consoles though.

never used spotify in the first place because there was nothing wrong with CD's and that giant collection of MP3's everyone over the age of 25 had on a flash drive somewhere

this also rings true for the "being gay is a choice" argument, like... Have you seen the kinds of things gay people put up with simply because they're gay? If being gay was a choice, who would choose to be mistreated by others?
