I'm a Levite, but I might instead be called "bat Levi", daughter of a Levite.
Levites, descendants of the tribe of Levi, one of the 12 tribes of ancient Israel, were ritual caretakers of the Temple in Jerusalem.
Thousands of generations later, I know this about my heritage, as do most Levites!
