Chain Saw Boy and the Scissor Babies are putting Americans in danger in ways that we haven't experienced before. This isn't a "wait a while and it'll get better" type of situation. Americans need to grow up, all of us need to grow the hell up or lose everything that makes this thing work.

Canada is a sovereign nation with ten provinces and three territories, comparably low debt, and universal healthcare. I think that's pretty badass of them. Also, like a good neighbor, they don't want to move in with us!

The phrase "Beyond the Pale" originally meant that you were outside the authority and safety of English law and subject to the savageries of rural Ireland. I get the feeling a lot of us are going to long for some abdicated safety of our own shortly. Rural America can be pretty darned savage, too.
