I don’t think this is true. There’s nothing on the Portuguese news or the MoD website. Might be another one of those series of articles that have been running after the Minister’s ambiguous reply in an interview back in March

In any case, Portuguese media reported a couple weeks ago that Lockheed Martin was looking to integrate local partners in the F35 supply chain, but that’s conditional on Portugal actually committing to acquire the jets… So it’s still an open issue

V. misleading article. The conversation came up after some comments from the Def. Min. in March, but he clarified that a decision re. the F35 hadnt been made either way. The financial argument could be the main consideration, especially given PT’s constant fiscal constraints. It isnt a snub to Trump
