The first 10 games or so they were clinical defending passing lanes in all three zones. Right now they’re beyond porous.

Keeping puck movement down low is much more stressful for defenders. Low to high passes are also very tough for goalies and shot blockers. At the point, you. Don’t have high quality shooting or passing options. You can go high to low for a one-timer from the half wall, but that’s less effective.

From a pure positional perspective, you’re ceding ground from close to the net to add someone at the point. Really hard to justify.
