How many of those who were all upset when Sinead O'Connor tore the photo of the Pope support Trump now?

If Trump is so concerned about fraud in the government, why did he pardon so many people who committed financial fraud against taxpayers (mostly Medicare fraud) in his first term?

Elon Musk now has access to your Social Security number. The world’s richest man has gained access to the confidential personal information of every taxpayer in the United States.

The National Association of Homebuilders has come out against the tariffs. Too bad so many of their members supported Trump. Maybe they'll learn.

I fully support Chrystia Freeland's proposal for retaliating to Trump tariffs with super high tariffs on Teslas.

In my work, we regularly look CDC datasets like BRFSS and YRBS. They have been removed because the public health data has information about gender, race, and sexual orientation.

We don't know why the plane crashed last night (and with Trump politicizing everything, we may never know). But we do know that last year, Republicans pushed & got more flights in & out of DCA despite concerns raised by Democrats about congestion and safety.

While most reporting in the US made it sound like Columbia caved to tariff threats, it seems that Columbia got exactly what they asked for -- the deportees aren't being transported in shackles or in US military planes. Why is our media taking Trump's statement without question?

Nearly 12% of employed Americans work in the nonprofit sector & every American interacts with nonprofits in one way or another. If the freeze in grants is allowed to go forward (I doubt it will), the unemployment rate will skyrocket & even more people, beyond those who lose their jobs, will suffer.

The same people who opposed student loan forgiveness, because everyone should pay what they owe, are excusing the administration blocking grant payments that have already been awarded -- and thus are owed.

The folks obsessively posting about egg prices for the past few years have gone strangely quiet just as egg prices hit an all-time high.

Quick history reminder... The last "Gilded Age" in the US, also known as the age of robber barons; was followed by the Progressive Era. Let's work to show the tarnish on the gilt and have an even more robust Progressive Era.

It seems apt that the person being sworn in today in violation of the 14th amendment will choose to try to overturn another clause of the same amendment by executive order.

The Carter memorial was moving. "We told the truth. We obeyed the law. We kept the peace." Mondale

Shouldn't we expect all leaders to tell the truth and obey the law?

Fetterman said taking Greenland would be like the Louisiana Purchase. What he doesn't say is that is the problem. Greenland is home to people whose ancestors lived there for thousands of years -- as were the areas in the LA purchase. The rights of indigenous people matter.

I was an early Facebook user -- back when you needed an edu address to open an account. Killing moderation means I don't want to hang out there anymore. I don't know a lot of Bluesky users yet, but I think this is going to be my primary social media home now.
