19. Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening - The handheld Zelda games are a huge blind spot for me, and this is the main one. Amazed that this can run on original Gameboy hardware. Cutting the ALttP control scheme from 6 buttons to 2, makes it kinda tedious to switch items, but otherwise it plays great.

18. Spider-Man: Miles Morales - Like a bite sized version of the PS4 Spider-Man game. Miles plays different enough from original recipe Spider-Man that the gameplay feels distinct. Smaller scale means the set piece design feels a little lacking, but it’s still a cool 10-15 hours that go down easy.

17. Super Mario Land 2 - Needed a short chaser after sinking 40 hours into my last game. Big step up from the first Mario Land, but still a few steps behind SMB3 and World. This feels like the last time Mario was allowed to be unapologetically weird like this. Why does Mario live in a castle anyway?

16. Ghost of Tsushima - I’ve got one of these big AAA games in me per year. I get my 30 hours of enjoyment out of it and then rush to the end. Combat is fun enough, writing is above average, having forced stealth segments kinda sucks though. Will probably play something similar again next year.

15. Dark Souls Remastered - It’s been at least 5 years since I last played this, but the muscle memory is still there. Coming to this after spending so much time in the AAA world of Elden Ring makes the cracks show a little more, but that makes it a whole lot more interesting to me.

Made it through 5 movies, which is one more than last year. Sitting in one place for 10 hours was enough for me.

This is my 6th or 7th 12 Hours of Terror. Will I make it to the end?

Ok. I did the research. Assuming the song
1. takes place in 1999 (prior to its early 2000 recording).
2. On a Friday.
3. At some point after prom night.

That narrows it down to one of these 2 dates on the Bruce Dickinson led Ed Hunter tour in mid-July.

Mystery solved.

14. Super Mario Bros - Would you believe I’ve never finished this until now? I‘ve played it a million times, just never until the end. Also the first time I’ve ever got the 3-1 extra life trick to work; which probably explains how I got to the end.

13. Super Hot - A perfect 3 hour game. The key to making a good game is how fast I can start over if I die. I don’t want to stop and think, I want to make barely noticeable improvements to my previous failure until I win.

I am finally getting rid of that ugly brown Elm Street boxset. Truly the end of an era.

12. LoZ: Majora’s Mask 3D - I know it’s cool to like this game now, but it still feels like a worse Ocarina of Time in my opinion. Shakes up the formula too much for me. I don’t like the time limit, changing masks feels like a chore, and it gets way too hard at times for no reason.

Trying to power through The Long Walk at work tonight so I can see the movie tomorrow. Almost half way there.
