This is my horseracing, sports and music account. My escapism from all the dark politics and bad news happening across the world.
Saturdays Rehersal Chase. A premier handicap with just 8 left in at the 5 day stage.
Runners since 2015, 13, 9, 12, 10, 9, 12, 8, 9, 12.
The 2016 winner received £45k, Bristol De Mai was 2nd that day. This years winner gets £39k. Tells a story.

Tomorrows John Durkan field is quite exceptional. Can’t remember the last time there was such a stacked field for an early season race. Winners of the Ryanair, Cheltenham Gold Cup, two Grand Nationals, Browns Advisory, Punchestown Gold Cup and Aintree Bowl.

A sport I used to love as a young man has become a celebrity reality TV show. Very sad #Boxing

Decent ground at Ascot tomorrow yet only 2 races can field 3 places for betting purposes. It’s killing the game for ordinary punters and racegoers. Urgent action required, someone needs to take an axe to the fixture list.

Oh Scotland.

The hypocrisy of betting and gaming companies, while at the same time campaigning against the UK governments proposed tax rises. taxpolicy.org.uk/2025/11/18/s...
Betting on tax avoidance - is Sky Bet avoiding £55m tax per year?
ITV News has just published an investigation: gambling company Sky Bet has migrated its business to Malta to avoid around £55m of tax each year. We provided technical support for the investigation…

Knickerbockerglory a non-runner in Greatwood “due to going”. All his win form on soft or heavy. Official going this morning soft. Go figure.

Happy Mackeson Gold Cup day. Don’t think low sun is going to be a problem today. Have a good one.

One soggy day at Cheltenham. A reasonable day on the punting front.
Looking ahead to the Champion hurdle, this season looks a great opportunity for something to come off the flat and do an Alderbrook. To say it’s a mediocre betting heat is an understatement.

I wonder if the chancellor reads the racing post.

These global betting giants are no different to the tech bros. $14 billion in revenue is never enough.

Jingko Blue looks interesting in the 3m handicap hurdle Saturday, if allowed to take his chance. Completely unexposed in a substandard looking renewal.

The Divine Comedy on this week Jools Holland. Fabulous nonsense.

There are people on the right of politics who don’t believe that a publicly funded broadcaster like BBC should exist. That’s the bottom line, and I’m no fan of Tim Davie. Attack at every opportunity.

Can’t see how a merger of ITV and Sky would be good for racing.
TBH I can’t see an upside for consumers full stop.

The hypocrisy from the big names who sold out to Saudi backed LIV golf tour as it move from 54 holes to traditional 72 holes in 2026.
“It’s not about the money, it’s about more quality time with family” has changed to “it’s the next logical step that strengthens competition”
Na, it was the money.

Entries for first G1s of the season in a few weeks time.

11 in the Morgiana, 7 trained by Willie.
21 in the John Durkan, 12 trained by Willie.
Not having a dig at the master trainer but this is not a good look for jump racing.

If the person who offered David Maxwell £600k for El Cairos wasn’t the person who paid £410k at the sale then they’ve missed a trick.

Sent this to a mate last night. What doesn’t break you makes you stronger, or so they say. Well done the Bradstocks good people.

Quiet start to Cheltenham season. Counted just 17 bookmakers in tatts.
Good card today.

Australian Pink Floyd last night. Stunning show.

So far I’ve yet to see any positive response to moving the Cheltenham Gold Cup day to a Saturday. Racegoers, punters, bookmakers, ITV, trainers are a best lukewarm and Uttoxeter must be seething.

5/5 so far for Elliott at Far Hills. Nearly $400k in the banker for owners.
