Awful. OpenAI (and other AI cos) are making a hard push for getting AI into K-12 schools, which they see as a burgeoning market. Most teachers I've spoken to, meanwhile, say AI is terrible.

Outside of computer class, there should be no gen AI in K12 schools, period.

The worst thing about email is it can come at any time. With the post I’d wait for the delivery and if the letter wasn’t in it then I knew I’d just have to wait til tomorrow, emails have me checking my damn mailbox every five minutes

The misery caused by vague position descriptions is so real. I know the job, I can do the job, but when employer expectations aren’t stated there’s the constant questioning whether enough is being done or if the correct things are being prioritised.

I got told by higher ups that I needed to take the kid's colouring sheets down from the walls because it made the space too 'busy' and 'messy' which was a huge bummer, then I realised the difference between 'messy' colouring sheets and art was that one was framed! May I present my solution...

The fact I can't just stay home and build chairs and stuff for the rest of my life really bums me out.

The other day I was told "In one conversation you can be talking about the most interesting things and then suddenly be talking about the most boring. In. The. Same. Conversation" and it made me feel like a wizard.

Been so long since I've had the urge to sit down and actually play a video game for an extended period but for some reason Star Wars: Outlaws has hooked me in 🤷

With every interaction I have with the library executive about the awful, shortsighted changes being made to my job, I am reminded of this quote;

"Some individuals use statistics as a drunk man uses lamp-posts — for support rather than for illumination."

Pull along kicking kangaroo for the nephew from blackwood offcuts, finished with tung oil and my home made beeswax polish. Already have friends asking me to make one for their kids so I guess I also make toys now 🤷

I like to make stuff from wood. This was the first chair I ever made, it's a democratic side chair designed by Curtis Buchanan. The parts are green Blackwood turned on a pole lathe I constructed, the seat is kiln dried Blackwood, and it's finished with shellac.
