Conferences are meaningless at this point if not actively detrimental via championship games. Go independent and sign deals to play traditional rivals (instead of Rutgers and Maryland) with shorter broadcasts (a la changes in MLB) and become the biggest/highest rated TV property in the sport.

I don’t have an incredibly high opinion of Michigan’s stewardship of its own brand but I do think it will manage to continue locating sources of capital without much trouble going forward.
