Well okay then

Every time an Orioles pitcher steps on the mound

Nasty slider from Max Meyer
April 4, 2025 at 11:43 PM
Another solid start from Tylor Megill where he was able to locate his new slider pretty well and paired it with some good sinkers and high fastballs. Kinda digging what I'm seeing so far

Nasty cutter from Dean Kremer to strike out Anthony Santander

Throwing this many pitches over the middle of the plate to major league hitters seems like a bad idea

Zach Eflin used his sweeper more than his curve today and it worked great (43.8% CSW). Wonder if this is something he’s gonna keep doing all year

Which Orioles player is/was this?

If you're into black metal, Saor's latest album Amidst the Ruins is one of the best black metal/folk metal albums I've heard in a LONG time. Give it a listen ASAP

Obviously the move is just outfield depth, but it's worth noting that Ramón Laureano did get progressively better at the plate over the year last year (especially from a power perspective) and he had a .305/.343/.526 line against lefties, so ya know why not🤷

Well this is bad

To this day, my whole family still references this old Bob Uecker Miller Lite commercial every time we’re in the “FRONT row” of anything

Did I ever think I’d want an Orioles yacht rock hat? No. Do I want one? Very very much so

Justin Verlander to the Giants

All that said, Castillo is still very good—the SL is still killer with a 35.2% CSW, 34.8% chase rate, and .260 wOBA against. And while the FB & CH took steps back, they still work well

I think the Castillo of 2024 is the Castillo we should expect in 2025 and not a return to form
January 7, 2025 at 12:32 AM
Seen a few rumors about the Orioles trading for Luis Castillo so a few thoughts on him:

Castillo took a step back last year that worries me, specifically with his FB. Velo was down to 95.6, a career-low, ICR jumped to 43.6%, CSW dropped to 28.9%, extension remains awful (5.3 ft)

Honestly if Felix had retired at 31 instead of two years later, I’m not sure we’d be hemming and hawing as much. I feel like we’d be more willing to forgive a bad final season or two in favor of celebrating his dominance up til then

1. Wild God by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

I adore Nick Cave and everything he does, and his string of albums basically since Push the Sky Away has been truly incredible. Wild God might be the best of the bunch - it brought tears to my eyes, it's a beautiful work of art
December 26, 2024 at 7:43 PM
2. The Avett Brothers by The Avett Brothers

I'm pre-disposed to love just about anything the Avetts put out - they're an all-time favorite of mine and have been forever. This self-titled record is yet again incredible and just shows how absurdly talented these two are

3. No Name by Jack White

Similar to Opeth, I had kind of written off Jack White recently. I love the guy, but his last few albums haven't been much better than "sure, whatever."

But No Name, good god, welcome back Jack White. This is an all-out rocker

4. Only God Was Above Us by Vampire Weekend

I am who I am, and that's a mid-30s millennial with a soft spot for 2000s/2010s indie rock bands. I adore Vampire Weekend and they put out yet another great album this year, very much worth a listen
December 26, 2024 at 7:43 PM
5. The Skies Above Eternity by Fellowship

Fellowship's debut from a couple years ago is one of the best power metal albums I've ever heard, so I was hyped for the follow-up. While it's not quite their debut (how could it be?) it's still an awesome power metal record

6. Fall by Borknagar

Another great metal album from this year, if you're a black metal fan then you know Borknagar, who's been putting stuff out for 30 years now, and wildly enough, Fall might be their best album yet
December 26, 2024 at 7:43 PM
7. Absolute Elsewhere by Blood Incantation

Aside from having the coolest album covers around, Blood Incantation is also making some of the best prog death metal right now, and this is probably their best yet
