I presume all the misogynists who made fun of the women’s England team during the Euros are going to spend an equal amount of energy criticising the quality of the penalties during the Liverpool Palace community shield final.

The India cricket team have been unprofessional throughout this series. Duckett shouldn’t stoop to their level.

But why @maxrushden.bsky.social am I crying after that mentality shootout? Amazing resilience and talent from the lionesses. Spain were an insanely tough but to crack, but amazing to see such depth, talent, and resilience from an English football team.

Amazing performance from Gill in England vs India. Incredible concentration and stamina. Just too good for us. Well played 👏

Can’t believe Manchester City are using comic sans on the back of their shirts for the second year in a row

At the time (only 3ish months ago?), this was seen as good diplomacy from Starmer. But feels as though it might backfire given how quickly Trump and his administration has sunk into chaos.

I’d love to see the state of the world if Trump wasn’t chasing a Nobel Peace Prize…

I wonder what today’s @newsagents.bsky.social podcast will be about.

Okay but can we get USAID back now please?

Are we at least allowed to say ‘told you so’?
Don't sully this with analysis. Live in the moment.

Trump has invited his golf buddy to speak about South African politics in the Oval Office whilst meeting with President Ramaphosa. What an absolute prat.

The Rupert Lowe interview on @newsagents.bsky.social is absolutely unhinged. Obnoxious, a LOT of waffle, and bounces from topic to topic without being able to get to the crux of the issue. @maitlis.bsky.social struggles to get a question in on their own show.

Love how people say ‘fair play to him’ for William supporting Villa. As though it’s a chore or beneath him. Give me enough money to go and watch my team all the time. It wouldn’t be a chore.

What we’ve learnt from England against Albania: Rashford probably isn’t good enough, Foden wasted on the right and not in form, Burn is a hell of a threat for corners, England still struggle to break down teams who sit back.

Like saying the pope shits in the woods.

A very niche part of Skype being informally discontinued is that it stopped humanitarian agencies talking to each other. Which was fairly catastrophic in terms of coordination and collaboration (and efficiency/value for money)

Judging by this week’s cabinet meeting, the issue is less around musk and Trump falling out. But the cabinet falling out with Musk leaves Trump in a difficult position to choose between elected officials and a person who has insane influence over political narrative and donates to Trump’s cause.
Elon vs Trump. Who is the better manipulator ? How long can they play nice ?
March 8, 2025 at 7:34 PM
Not sure it would be useful. None of the former presidents are popular enough with the MAGA crowd to get through to them. The best thing to do is let Trump be Trump and (some ) people will slowly come round. Just like Brexit.

It can’t be overstated just how right wing Starmer and Reeves are for a Labour government. Arguably more right wing than Cameron and Osbourne.
Liz Kendall and Rachel Reeves are specifically planning to cause extreme poverty to and kill disabled people. When are we marching as this CANNOT stand.

Johnson telling anyone to resign is a bit rich. He has about as much awareness of what the boundaries are for resignation as a cheese grater.

Part of me wonders whether Trump 2.0 is wanting to be expansionist and imperial compared to isolationist Trump 1.0. But his ideas are so wacky (e.g Greenland, Canada, Gaza and Ukraine) that, ironically, Trump 2.0 is accidentally making himself isolationist again.
March 2, 2025 at 4:21 PM
A bit like Johnson, Starmer is finding respite (and even success) through Ukraine and foreign policy as domestic policy remains unpopular.
Together for a just and lasting peace, together with Ukraine.
March 2, 2025 at 4:15 PM
One thing that hasn’t been mentioned about THAT meeting, is Jd Vance said those going from the US to Ukraine go on propaganda tours. Which is just a really stupid use of the word propaganda. What he surely means is the tours organised have itinerary that shows some of the worse hit areas.

This might sound absolutely mad (it’s not), but Ukrainians and Zelensky have absolutely no reason to be thankful for Europe and US’s support. It’s within their interests. Regardless if the fact it isn’t their country.
