Seems plausible that this is a piece of the puzzle. I did notice more cynicism about government and politics among young people after everyone came back from “social distancing” (remember that term?).

I’ve lived through academic crises: Katrina (when I was at Tulane), the 2008 downturn, COVID. All caused pain: hiring freezes, program closures, etc. This one is different: it’s intentional.
