I’m tempted to refine this and make it into a sticker/pin for those of us who were willing to learn a very violent dance in a video game about being a better dad.

Another pre-war blues favorite of mine: Blind Willie McTell. Nothing made me want a 12 string more than hearing him play “Broke Down Engine.” I love his playful voice and virtuoso guitar skills :)

It took me about 200 tries but I finally fucking did it. I bested the Valkyrie Queen, Sigrun. I’m not a good gamer so this is a big deal for me :)

Here’s some Charley Patton fan art. I listen to him regularly with my baby and his favorite song is “shake it and break it” from 1929
With what little “extra” time I have it’s been fun to do small pieces celebrating things/people I enjoy.

5 years since this Robert Johnson image was revealed and I had no idea it existed. I have seen other "unearthed" photos that are supposedly him but I never felt like they were quite right. This one came from his step sister who was 94 and she saw him take it. I love it. It *feels* like his music.

I’ve been going back and listening to my old pre-war favorites and doing a deep dive on each. I found an interview with Blind Willie McTell from 1940; having a recording of one of these guys talking about his life & music so close to that prime period feels like stumbling upon an actual unicorn.

I got my copy today and I’m very excited to spend time exploring the case for a future where people matter more than parking. Thanks, @thewaroncars.bsky.social

Here’s my mini poster (4X5 inches) for episode 34 of the Granada Sherlock Holmes series, “the last vampyre”, starring Jeremy Brett. This installment marks the beginning (imo) of the series beginning to meander in ways that don’t serve the audience but there are still moments of brilliance.

The great Drew Struzan has passed away. His work was seen and loved by millions of people over decades of making poster art for some of the most classic films ever and went on to inspire countless more creators (myself included) who struggled to capture even a little of his magic for ourselves.

I won’t post photos of my kid but I did draw him on a scrap of paper during a rare breakfast out as a family. Just imagine overlaying the brightest and bluest eyes you’ve ever seen and this is a pretty good likeness.

In less sad news I had a little time to draw a mini (4X5) poster for episode 33 of the Granada Sherlock Holmes starring Jeremy Brett: The master blackmailer! This episode has great elements but it’s all over the place and doesn’t quite land. Still worth celebrating.

We have to say goodbye to our cat, Meshuggah today and it super sucks. We’ve had her for 18 years and I’m really going to miss her. She’s shutting down & it’s tragic to see but she’s as sweet as she’s always been. She is a wonderful girl and I’ll have nothing but great memories of our life with her.

Here’s a process video for my God Of War fan art. Atreus changes the most; I realized he was holding the bow incorrectly (based on how the character uses it.) the world serpent scales were tough too.

I’ve reached a point in God Of War where my viking son is being a real jerk to everybody. I didn’t know this would be a tween-parenting simulator. It’s amazing. Here’s some fan art by me :)

This probably isn't a huge revelation for some of you but Alice In Chains "Rainier Fog" is rad from start to finish. I've loved this band for 30+ years. Gives me hope that, despite the tragic loss of their legendary first frontman, they've maintained a sonic through-line that still feels familiar.

My brother @thegabrielfischer.bsky.social works at a guitar store (Five Star Guitars) which is dangerous because he will put stuff in my hands that I didn't know I wanted, that is beyond my price range, and I'm stuck mooning over it thereafter. I'm not a huge Steve Vai guy but this thing rules:

Today is B.B.King's 100th birthday. I love everything about his playing and singing. As a teenager I had the privilege of seeing him play many times. I read (at least) three biographies and wore out more than one copy of "Live At Cook County Jail." I drew this a few years back as part of a series:

Lindsey and I purchased the Guardians Of The Galaxy trilogy on Blu-ray to watch while we were sick. That third one hits me like a truck every time but I love them all so I drew a Rocket :)

Working on a flowchart poster for picking an electric guitar. Problems that stumped me for a while were: where to start, avoiding overlaps and just how many slight variations there are. I’m at a rough stage but I think it works. Laying it out at all is a huge challenge. Cool visuals come later.

The whole family is sick; we all have the same cold. This sucks.
I did get pizza for me and Lindsey so there’s a little silver lining this evening.
