Oh this is good.

And yes, hard is right. But also beautiful.

The ‘best’ essay I wrote in graduate school was where I applied (criminal psychologist) Lonnie Athens’ theory of ‘violentizarion’ to Macbeth. Fun times.

Yep, this is excellent. Presumably it includes this one at Old Compton St and Wardour Street? Great to see but hopefully just a precursor to removing motor traffic from the neighbourhood!

Morning spent helping to prune back trees on the river bank and clearing debris from the water. Pulled out one branch with a decomposing adult nappy insnared. Flushed? However it got there, let’s clean up the Thames and hold polluters accountable.

On the plus side, incredible light.

Of the handful of times I’ve walked up Olympic Way from Wembley Park, I’ve missed Wealdstone Brook. Until last night. #lostrivers

Also @robgmacfarlane.bsky.social you’ll be pleased to hear that a (real) heron was spotted on the greenway during the visit. Hoping the commitments to further improve the watercourse will ensure it sticks around.

So much of my professional and unprofessional life is revolving around London’s rivers at the moment. Walking and cycling routes beside them, swimming in them, campaigning for them, writing about them and exploring along them. What a joy.

The Ripple Greenway has been doing the rounds after a visit from Deputy Mayor of London for Environment & Energy - Mete Coban - last week. A linear park delivered by local residents, Sustrans and LB Barking & Dagenham. With important input from Rob Macfarlane and Jackie Morris.
