Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

If Trump never made sense to you, this will really clear things up.

And it's much worse than you thought.

A long and comprehensive opinion, but this jumped out at me: The judge accused the Federal Protective Service—which was called in to suppress the protests—of lying under oath to slander the regular Portland police.😬

DOJ recently admitted that other FPS claims in this case were objectively false.

Perfect example of why jury trials matter.

The government had to argue—in public—that throwing a sandwich at a man in a bulletproof vest caused “fear of immediate bodily harm.” And the jury called that what it was: overreach. Prosecutors shouldn’t go unchecked. reason.com/2025/11/06/d...
D.C. jury acquits 'sandwich guy' of assaulting federal agent
A jury found Sean Dunn, who went viral in August for throwing a Subway sandwich at a Border Patrol officer, not guilty.

What's happening in TX-18 is more obscene than not seating Grijalva during pro formas. Turner died in March. Abbott delayed the special election until yesterday, and now it goes to a runoff early *next year.*

Congress can and should require special elections to be held within 90 days of a vacancy.

Traditional American politics is premised on the notion that sometimes you lose and sometimes you win and you have to deal with that.

But Trumpism is premised on the notion that any result where you don’t win is illegitimate, unlawful, fraud, criminal.

You can’t negotiate with people like that.

How many more men and how much more time is Russia prepared to sacrifice to take the rest of the Donbas? 3 more years and 500k+ more casualties?

Even after that, Russia would still be almost as far from its original strategic goal as it is today. Pathetic!

As you read the thread, ask yourself...

What would YOU do?

If you worked there, would you sneak in bread to give to hungry people?

(It's only because of the efforts of committed citizens that we even *know* these Guantanamo Bays are sprouting all over our country.)
WOW. A federal judge says he's going to issue a Temporary Restraining Order requiring ICE to make changes at the Broadview facility in Chicago, a facility that until January was only for stays under 12 hours "absent exceptional circumstances," but has become, in Judge Gettleman's words, "a prison."
U.S. Robert Gettleman is now giving his thoughts. He says, "I think the evidence has been pretty strong that this facility is no longer just a temporary holding facility. …

"It has really become a prison."

A truly extraordinary document. Judge Rodriguez throws out the indictment because "the Government’s conduct is so shocking to the universal sense of justice that it should be deprived of the opportunity to prosecute the Defendant." Hard to count all the different ways ICE lied throughout this case.
As Marcy notes, @seamushughes.bsky.social is doing such critically important work. Here, folks should read Judge Rodriguez's opinion (to which Marcy links) for themselves.

It's a chilling account of what's become standard practice in ICE arrests these days—from a district judge who is no firebrand.
This dismissal opinion on a failed ICE arrest that @seamushughes.bsky.social found is worth reading in its entirety. Come for the debunking of DHS "fiction," stay for the snark about wiener dog, but definitely take time to read the 18 USC 111 analysis.
