It is less to do with political parties and more to do with billionaire media owners. Most of them want a global homogeny and enough noise and disruption and hate to keep them safely away from justice, fairness etc.
Politicians operate within a framework that allows them a platform.

Without a doubt.
But the difference between them and other anglophone nations is the money and guns and bombs.
We've been happy to trust and have a comfy relationship. We've paid our debt (full cost) for ww2. It's an abusive relationship. It needs to end.

Clang of the prison gates sentences are not a good idea. They don't impact offending. They disrupt healthcare and housing and family and employment.

Indeed. See libdems and the coalition for example.

But Burnham deciding to shoot that shot would show that his ego was in charge and his viability as a decent political force for good would have started its end.

It would be. And he'd win it. And he'd likely become PM eventually.
But why be PM when you cannot truly make a difference (because we are fucked and neopopulism has to burn out to end it), when you can be history's greatest UK mayor and that be your legacy?

Just as I ditched my membership under Corbyn, I would ditch it under Streeting.
My biggest problem at the minute is that they are not stepping through the gears back to the centre, they are staying Right in Comms, at least. But it's the sheer executive incompetence! It's staggering.
