Seasons changing, as the monsoons finally give way to winter. Reproduction in high gear with buds, flowers, and mature seedpods abounding across the garden.

Went to both mangrove forests at opposite ends of the commercial fishing port in Pak Nam Pran. Very much appreciate the (new?) restaurant on the riverside that allowed me to paddle up and get an iced cold beer to go without me even having to get off my board.
😎🍺

It's difficult to find places in Thailand with no other humans. I find it important to seek these places out and be alone amongst the nature. Extremely rewarding.

Found my happy spot again. It's been too long. I feel so at peace when I'm deep inside the mangrove forest. A magnificent journey on the first proper day of winter. 🌳🛶🌳

You barely ever see the radar go beyond the dark red into the light pink zone. Bangkok getting whalloped on right as the river is about to burst its banks. Fun times for a city mostly 5 meters or less above sea level. 🙃

All these blooms are tiny (less than 1cm) and growing in the cracks on the side of the pavement during my morning walk with the dogs. Easily missed, but offering endless beauty & form if you stop long enough to appreciate them.

Sure thing. My friends here usually annoyed at my never ending need to identify strange species lol. Here are my two bulbophyllums in my garden here in Thailand:

B. crassipes
B. vaginatum (arguably a fairly pitiful bloom, but still)

I love this! Have always wondered about a direct comparison of Thailand's size (where I live) with American states.

These two plants, that have already bloomed earlier this summer, have suddenly shot out 5 more inflorescences. They ain't done yet, apparently. 🤩

Watch this space early September!

Perhaps a bit too obsessed with the half dead leaves of my giant taro plant that I've been trimming back this morning. I wish there was some way to preserve these otherwise fleeting colors & patterns.

I got some from a friend and before I could find a good place for it, it started to climb my wall so I made a bamboo trellace for it, which it has taken over now but here are some shots when it was young and smallish.

Some excellent photos of Saigon here, some of which I haven't seen before. Here's a useful map of former (colonial) French street names that will help you orient some of the shots. 🇻🇳 📷

One of my brassavola species is coming into bloom for the second time since I got it last Sept. It normally lives on rocks & trees in the coastal rainforests across a swath from Colombia & Venezuela up thru the Caribbean. How I adore the weird ones. 🌱🌿🌴🪴
