Towards the end of my westbound ride, near Bickford Park, I gave props to some female crew members installing some of the missing bollards. I will have to go for a re-inspection ride after this snow melts, to see the final(ish) configuration.

One odd piece is this bumpout west of Spadina in front of Piano Piano. It used to exist to go around parked cars. But instead of moving the bike lane to the curb, they built this concrete pad and kept the bumpout. And no curb separation. Maybe a patio space or loading zone? I foresee problems here.

The lanes are mostly at street-grade, but TTC bus stops have raised sidewalk-level portions of the bike lane for loading/unloading. Cyclists & passengers will need to be aware to avoid conflict here. Signage seems minimal so far, so hopefully can be improved.

Curb-protected portions have cuts for drainage, not cyclist egress. You *can* try to use them for the latter, but they are narrow & 90º so you'd have to stop or slow right down. Basically you need to stay in your lane & passing other riders is tough. Not a route for speedsters or throttle ebikers.

Parking has been moved left of the lanes but no curb separation from parked cars is used. Instead the city put flexposts at 6 m intervals (~ every 2 vehicles or so), but on my visit many were not in yet. In places without posts, parked cars edge into the lane and their passenger doors can hit us.

When WoC did their first episodes on John Forrester, they lost me as a regular listener. It felt bad faith. I have no great love for him or for "vehicular cycling" as a philosophy, but their ire towards him and two episodes spent slamming the dude felt misdirected at best, and borderline cruel

Makes sense, thank you! They definitely aren't designed for cyclists to weave in and out but I can't deny occasionally using them that way :)

Finally got to ride this now that it's open, if not fully finished. It's great! Just out of curiosity: what is the purpose of the regular cuts along the poured-in-place curbs? They seem to be about every 2-3 metres. Is it for drainage or to allow people to cross the curb at the cut points?

Interesting point. I feel like caving to the "X" rebranding, given that most still use the platform in more or less the same way (despite the changes) is sort of a concession to Musk and his idiocy. It's not like Twitter, pre-Musk, was some kind of panacea either. But I am fine with either!

I explained my issue& the agent immediately cut the $37 in half to $18/month. I said no, and she said she would just check if a lower offer was available ("let me ask my manager" vibes) and lo and behold, $8/month appeared! And for a year, compared to my earlier 4-month promo. 2/2

Ford isn't directly doing it, but his anti bike lane laws and statements have emboldened the vocal groups of carbrains, and scared elected officials into listening to them. But yes at some point we need to point the fingers at those directly involved.

Most likely just a bored person with misled ideas, who is taking it out on me and everyone else on here. Also could be one the confused business owners being coached to frame bus lanes as the apocalypse. But I try not to engage with those anon types. I've blocked them. Movin on.

I don't believe anything you say, to be honest, because you're a fake person, with a fake name and no picture on the internet who comments profusely, while adding nothing. I will now take my own advice and block you. All the best.
