“Stone Soup Test”: Sometimes the barrier to adding tests is a place to put the test. When I touch a header that doesn’t have tests, I add a stone-soup test: A test that just checks the existence of a class. Like the parable, it can inspire others to add “tasty ingredients” to the “stone soup”.

C++ has `any_of`, `all_of`, and `none_of`; the truth table has four columns implying 16 algos. Some are silly. Some are interesting: `any_and_all_of` (aka non-empty and all of), `homogeneous`, and `heterogeneous`.

I cataloged them all on the talk page: en.cppreference.com/w/Talk:cpp/a...

Preprocessor embed is in C++26. You can go bother your vendors to put it in. The offset parameter may make it through as well, meaning it will go in fully complete and not need a second standards revision to patch the offset(3) parameter in.

It's finally, truly, over.

Recently I learned that in C (and so in C++), it is NOT undefined behavior to index one past the end of a C array! You just can’t do much with that reference (you can basically just get it’s address). Another reason to prefer `std::array`.

Pro tip: If you have a BT keyboard that can switch computers at the press of a button, you can pair it with your phone. Then, if you are at your desk and start to respond to something on phone, you can just press “💻2“ and start typing at full speed.

I’m very pleased with my submission to the 3” Tiny Art show at the public library. All 5.1” of it. It’s entitled “Art Rules”.

All entries had to fit in a 3” cube.

I need a modern Wi-Fi router (Wi-Fi6 or 7). WFH, I download multi-gigabyte containers so raw bandwidth matters up to saturating the cable modem. I work on the 2nd floor and can put a router on the ceiling in the basement below without much trouble. Any router suggestions?

In software testing, what are your thoughts on testing headers full of constants? On the one hand, it’s sort of copy-paste coding; OTOH, I feel like the Beyoncé rule dictates that there should be a test driver that checks the type and value (or at least value-range?) of the constants.

@thosenerdygirls.bsky.social I want to donate, but to add you to my employer’s corporate-matching database I need a name and email address for a contact.
