USA: we also show support for green subsidies among American business organizations & trade unions. Business groups see innovation & green tech gains; unions support them as subsidies are tied to pro-labor standards (positive-sum effect).

🚨 Important for our other argument is that the unions support green subsidies because they are only paid to companies in which collective agreements or other forms of union representation are in place (positive-sum).

🚨New publication out in @reggovjournal.bsky.social

@danielk24.bsky.social & I show that the support for green subsidies by unions & business interest groups in the 🇺🇸 & in 🇩🇪 goes hand in hand with the support for eco-social policies.

🚨New publication🚨

How do organised interests shape welfare state reforms? In this chapter, we review various political economy approaches to explaining ongoing reforms. We also discuss the challenges of member mobilisation & political influence in times of multiple crises.

Back from my summer break & excited to share my new publication 🎉

What does methodological quality mean for qualitative & quantitative research? We review debates, highlight skepticism & possibilities, and call for a differentiated approach.

Many thanks to @leburn.bsky.social & Claudius Wagemann

⏰ Finally out & happy to share the key finding + a quick summary of our analysis below 📢

🔑 Due to their high union membership & high level of activity within trade unions, blue-collar workers and low-service functionaries show a strong correlation with union positions on welfare state reforms.

Happy to share!!!🥳

I received financial support (€10,000) to better understand (1) under which conditions national governments decide for or against implementing climate-friendly policies and (2) the patterns of support & opposition by UNIONS & EMPLOYERS towards such policies across Europe.

🎉 Happy that my paper co-authored with Luzie Hackenbroch has been accepted at Socio-Economic Review 🎉

We find that low-skilled INSIDER & low skilled OUTSIDER play a significant role in shaping unions’ positions on welfare state reforms (memership & union activity is important).

More soon 🚨
