A great way to do *something* is donating money. Please consider sacrificing the tax write-off from donating to formal charities, who spend a large amount of the money paying staff, and try donating instead to local mutual aid efforts, which are almost entirely volunteer run.

This is a common issue, unfortunately.
A big problem is that once you question some of these rescue orgs, you're immediately painted as being pro pedophile, pro sex trafficking, etc.
Shutting down criticism before it really gets started opens doors for misinformation & grifters.

there's an ongoing moral panic about sex trafficking that basically helps right wing grifters do their grift. i'm definitely not the right person to speak on the totality of this, but i want to help add context to people new to this moral panic in this thread understand what's going on
