AI has no face. It's not a person. It's not even a consistent thing. It's a mirror that becomes whatever you put in front of it.

The question isn't "What will AI become?"
The question is: "What will we make it?"

Stop pitching the logic of AI. You're talking to the wrong part of the brain. My new blog dives into how leaders can use empathy to calm the emotional Elephant and guide their teams toward a future where AI augments, not replaces, our best people.

AI and The Elephant - InterWorks
Change management is hard. With AI changing our businesses, it’s also crucial. I’ve been thinking about change management lately through the lens of “Switch” by Chip and Dan Heath. If you haven’t read...

We're entering a new era where you can escape 'average' software.

AI is making it possible for anyone to build custom tools that actually solve their problems, without being a full-time developer.

You Are Not The Average Customer - InterWorks
You Are Not The Average Customer Software is designed for the average customer, but the truth is that no customer is the actual average. That’s why we’re always dealing with trade-offs. Our tool proce...

AI is causing me to work more, but I'm not complaining. I find it's unlocking my time and desire to create. It's easier to enter into flow and feel genuinely engaged rather than just efficient.

Creating software feels like magic, sometimes. It’s amazing we can just decide to create things and put it out in the world the way we do.

Spent the last week building my personal site using multiple AI tools as creative partners. Spoiler alert: it was fun, but not seamless. No single prompt (or AI) got me there, just iterative experiments.

Wrote about the full messy, collaborative journey here:

GPT-5 dropped with a messy rollout, but here's my honest take after a weekend testing:

✅ Improved coding & tool use
✅ Follows instructions better
❌ Not replacing Claude or Gemini in my workflow

Impressive release if it holds up in real world usage. Cheap, fast, with o4-mini performance is a really good mix.

My best trip was when lightning lane / fast pass wasn't running. Here's my idea: Use it for "Disney Magic" by making it random. Send people random passes from Mickey to make their day.
Lighting Lane so bad! Sooooooooo bad. I can’t believe how bad it is.

A lot of companies have much more fundamental data problems than waiting for budget on AI. AI is last mile engineering and until you’ve laid the base the investment is a waste in both time and money

Agree with this take. I think an OS level AI that could follow me around email, slack, task trackers, etc just to remind me I forgot something would be the most helpful thing. Privacy, of course, is a huge hurdle.
I suspect we’re going to find there is little demand for Operator-like agents that go out on the web and do shopping for you—but huge demand for personal assistants that have read all your email and all your files and can see the 3 tasks you forgot to finish.

I love what Good Store is doing. They have great stuff and you get to support charities like Partners in Health.
Why not get a bunch of Christmas shopping done RIGHT NOW?!

Every Good.Store order gets a free mini-puzzle (while supplies last) and shipping is free on any order over $59!

And, as always, 100% of profit is donated to charity!

Not sure the Bluesky overlap between Laravel and ThoughtSpot, but my team made our integration work available as a composer package.
