Easily distracted by side quests.
This is a perspective crystallizing article that needed to be written. Kudos to the author! Try to read it! It is pay walled but well worth a one month Globe and Mail membership!

We can’t change the fact that there will always be shocks: like financial crises, geopolitical events, or climate catastrophes.

But we need to understand what we can, and must, change.

If you want to smash capitalism, I can tell you for certain that there are better places to start your quest than bookstores and libraries?! Am I in the freaking Upside Down from Stranger Things? What the hell is going on?

Fascinating reading! I just finished a chapter on Benjamin Franklin's life as a bookseller/publisher/intellectual.

Did you know that in later life, he passed the operation of his business to Thomas Jefferson and published Thomas Paine's pamphlet "Common Sense"?

If you want to smash capitalism, small businesses are probably not the best of places to start on your quest. I can think of better places.

Presently feeding the trolls. I know it’s an unwritten rule not to do this but sometimes, especially when they are reductive, simplistic, polarized (you are either with us or against us) and wrong it has to be done. #trolls

Whether you are a MAGA person, a left wing social justice warrior, middle of the road, or all these things combined, this is pretty damn funny!

This article articulated the blurred lines of contemporary culture - and its extension to politics - very well.

I have noticed the wolf in sheep’s clothing nature of these folks for some time.

Boys and men deserve better heroes.

Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post.

Elon Musk owns Twitter/X.

When multi-billionaires take control of our most vital platforms for communication, it’s not a win for free speech. It’s a win for oligarchy

Slow clap to the passionate folks steering the direction of Eden Mills Writers Festival!

In the times we are living through, we need as many places to talk about and listen to ideas as we can get.
