How do we respond when #NHS staff are subjected to racist abuse by patients?

Evelyn Asante-Mensah, chair of @penninecarenhs.bsky.social discusses managing the difficult balance between supporting staff and ensuring that those responsible are, where possible, held to account.
Why we’re looking afresh at anti-racism and zero tolerance
Examining what zero tolerance means in practice has prompted us to interrogate the idea much more closely, writes Evelyn Asante-Mensah OBE.

We know money is tight.

But we also know that failing to invest strategically in early intervention and prevention is a false economy that leads to massive costs for both the individuals impacted and wider society.

So how do we spend the very limited resources available? 🧵 1/2

I really appreciate Louis for making this very sobering documentary on the expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank and the enormous impact this is having on those living there. Intimidation, segregation, arbitrary detention.

Looking forward to this event and hearing from Sir James.
We have just announced that Sir Jim Mackey, newly chief executive of NHS England, will speak at our conference on 23 April.

We recently spoke to Nic Wetton, head of Malpas Alport Primary School, to hear her perspectives on changing trends in child mental health, the role of schools as a 'front door' to NHS mental health services, and the benefits of taking a whole-school approach to early intervention and prevention.
