So excited to make new signage this year! (I <3 Canva) This poster covers a blah spot near the door to the library. Of course it’s only after I’ve done all the work and had it printed that I see it really should have been Explore Discover Learn Repeat. (face palm).

If you forget to bring a spoon for your yogurt because it’s the last 7 days of school and you don’t have any functioning brain cells left, you can always use a granola bar in its place.

This is courtesy a book I highly doubt is on a banned book radar.

It is impossible to erase ideas. Book banning might cover some up for a moment, but they will never go away and they will always rise up.

Keep reading. You never know what you might find.

I made this a few weeks back to make the point with some students that people are being spoon fed content. Bad effort at making the image aside (I was rushed for time). It seems apt for this post. So much shit is literally being shoveled into our faces.

Working with some classes today and my presentation slide demonstrating how people are spoonfed information online is a big hit with the middle schoolers.

I needed some creativity therapy last week, so I made some new signs to highlight some featured books. I’m incredibly pleased with the results. People around the school have been calling me the Canva Queen and by people I mean me, I have declared myself to be Canva Queen.

Their follow up was just four years ago.

Also four years ago was an alert from the Pew Research Center.

The key ingredient not mentioned in that graphic is time. Learning is fine. People can learn quickly, but they can also forget quickly. Learning only turns into knowledge over time. Doing online “research” for 10 minutes isn’t the same as going through the genuine process of becoming knowledgeable.
