Picking an option on the battle menu is now functional. It'll hide the other options and open submenu for it.

You can choose between using the regular confirm/cancel buttons on the submenu, or to use the same button to confirm and all others cancel, much like a certain classic game...

More work on battles. Characters leap into position at the start of combat, and back to the same spot once it ends. Also showing off the different button styles when playing with a controller #gamedev

Things that currently work: initiating combat, the basic logic for the Time Gauge, and running away.

You may have seen @qwarq.io 's input plugin I shared yesterday. Here's a look at how it is implemented in BELOW HEAVEN specifically. You have the ability to pick between four separate presets for the appearance of your controller buttons - go with what feels intuitive for you!

But perhaps even more importantly than that, @qwarq.io has begun work on setting up the battle system for the game. The grid is supposed to be semitransparent, that's on me. I already sent him the fixed version.

Isn't it cool when games have working mirrors?

Here's a pair of characters who probably won't show up ingame for a while

Kali maintains an ancient library - or the ruins thereof - doing his best to restore ancient texts. He is assisted by an assortment of kobolds, with Thorn being closest to him.

The story begins when this gal - Caroline - rejects her idyllic life above the stars and flies down to the Earth below, where she must try to make amends and reckon with the world her people left behind.

She also has something the King of Heaven really, really wants.
