#TimeTravelAuthors [4] #TheQuantaBTales has colours as themes for each tale. These in turn correspond to a particular commodity that is traded in the Nine Galaxies; Green for food, brown for minerals, black for firearms. The colours also gave me ideas for the stories; red is a tale of love, etc

@juliebihn.bsky.social Have you read Time Travel: A History by James Gleick? It’s a comprehensive history of the subject in fiction, and there’s a video of him explaining it on The Long Now YouTube channel

#TimeTravelAuthors [2] #TheQuantaBTales is my homage to the 80s, when everything was wire frame graphics and video games were on computers with less memory than a 21st century birthday card. Back then you really needed your imagination.

Once we develop the universal translator not only will we be able to understand and speak every language on Earth, but we will also have a transcript of every conversation we’ve ever had.

#TimeTravelAuthors [1] My new book, released in September, is called #TheQuantaBTales and features 12 space travellers aboard a starliner named the Canterbury. (Ok, you can see where this is going!)
The time travel comes courtesy of the strange quirk of hyspace, which the ship travels through

So, I think it's time I begin, in detailed specifics, talking about the mess that is Unbound / Boundless as a book publisher, in essence stealing most of a years royalties from me and many other authors, as a result of poor financial decisions, and legal BS.

Please read and share this thread.

A huge thank you to @juliebihn.bsky.social for organising and hosting #TimeTravelAuthors I have met so many authors on here and gained several new followers! #TheQuantaBTales is in pre-production right now but there are preview copies available for those interested. Book launched in Sep 2025

#TimeTravelAuthors Will there be a sequel to #TheQuantaBTales ??? Well, there are plenty more letters in the alphabet (that rhyme with ‘bree’), but as stated I don’t want to spend another 14 years writing it. The solution would be to find 11 other authors to write a tale each. Any takers?

#TimeTravelAuthors [29] Some folks in #TheQuantaBTales do get eaten, disintegrated, poisoned, spaced, boiled and stabbed and an entire planet gets irradiated. Then of course there’s the whole imminent destruction of the universe thing including all of time and space.

I read a book once. Green it was.

@greatdismal.bsky.social I was listening to a BBC Radio 3 programme called The Verb in the early noughties and thought I heard you say that ‘you liked to use the oven gloves of science fiction to examine the casserole of the 21st century’. Do remember saying this or did I imagine it?

#TimeTravelAuthors Let’s talk about aliens in #TheQuantaBTales In most cases I took an animalistic approach. There’s aliens that evolved from felines, lizards, insectiods and squids. The true aliens though are unseen. They come from a six-dimensional realm and are beyond our perception

#TimeTravelAuthors [27] The Pirates Tale tells of a young man who loses his brother when their ship is boarded. As the next in line he has to take over as captain, but he soon realises how much his brother has been protecting him from the harsh realities. Soon he faces a mutiny.

Should the first season of #Andor be season 2, then be followed by season 1. Because it’s a prequel and it’s counting down?

Some more versions of the current concept artwork for the cover of #TheQuantaBTales

#TimeTravelAuthors [26] My biggest regret with #TheQuantaBTales is that I will never be able to write another book like it again. It took 14 years to write. 1 year to write and edit each of the 13 tales, then another year to edit the whole book. I didn’t know it would take that long, but it did.

Working through some concept covers for #TheQuantaBTales with the idea that print on demand would actually allow me to create several different ones for the book launch event. The idea with this one is that the lines link all of the characters in a sort of narrative network

#TimeTravelAuthors the only historical research I did for #TheQuantaBTales was into the period in Hungary that led to the birth of several extraordinary individuals who went on to totally change the world. The theory is that some alien landed and impregnated a section of the population.

#TimeTravelAuthors [24] #TheQuantaBTales does feature 1 chapter in iambic pentameter; an homage to Chaucer. A reluctant time traveller finds the 10 dimensional realm of Veantar where his friend is, but he loses his wife in time. He is so traumatised that rhyme is the only way he can tell his tale
