If the tariffs are ultimately unconstitutional we’re gonna have to give massive refunds to Amazon and Temu and nothing to the people who actually bought the shit at a markup, thanks to our feckless President.

Every week NIH sends out 'funding opportunity' and program notice email out, and every week for the past ~6 months the "opportunities" section has been the same -- NONE.
I never thought I'd see the United States of America turn its back on science, technology and innovation, but here we are.

Well you see, if we learn new things we might accidentally challenge our preconceived notions, and that’s un-American.
It’s wishful thinking but I’d like the blue states to up their taxes so we’re all paying what we would have been paying without this ridiculous bill and then make interstate compacts to provide the services these morons are cutting. I feel bad for the blue dots but we should help who we can.

All these articles about the MN assassin being a “Walz appointee” and it took like 2 seconds to google that appointees to that committee are nominated by industry groups, and not like, Walz’s hand-picked besties. This fact is unmentioned in the articles. Irresponsible.

All the federal government needs to do is have a pay-per-view duel to the death between Trump and Musk and then we wouldn’t even have a deficit anymore.

I think a lot abt how marginalized people are expected to be perfect just to be treated w/ basic dignity, just to access legal protection. But democracy can’t mean rights for the respectable few. It has to mean fair and just treatment even for those seen as least deserving. That’s the real test.

It’d be great if someone could perfect cryosleep so I could fast forward past the Smoot Hawley / dust bowl / stock crash years and skip right into the New Deal bit. Preferably without another world war.

I read a bit of news on the stock market that was all “But don’t worry! If it drops far enough all the companies will just start doing stock buybacks!” And now I’m mad about both my 401(k) AND that stock buybacks are perfectly legal, virtually unregulated market manipulation.

Watching some old Bond movies to reminisce about the good old days, when we knew Russia was an adversary and women all had subtle names like Pussy McBigtiddies.

The naive optimist in me is still vaguely hopeful that Congress can come together to reclaim their tariff authority because of just how flagrantly stupid this trade war is (to say nothing of the threats to tariff Taiwanese chips). Any signs of sanity would be appreciated.
