This statement from Jonathan Joss's husband is heart breaking.

No, headline writers, he wasn't "killed in an argument with a neighbor." He was *deliberately murdered* for being gay right after his dog was decapitated.

Bet the murderer calls himself a "Christian."

THIS is why Pride is important.

You should be very concerned with how the US House of Representatives is proposing to change federal student aid. Don’t be distracted by absurdity. The changes proposed will make access to Higher Education harder and more costly if it gets approved as it’s currently written.

America’s raging inequality is on display.

The corrupting power of wealth and giant corporations has never been more clear.

Billionaires are running Washington and unleashing a tsunami of big money and legalized bribery.

Serious question: Where the hell are the Democrats?

Really wishing our elected officials and judges would muster up the same amount of courage to defend democracy that is demanded of students and educators in American schools just trying to receive or provide an education.

@yorkadventurers.bsky.social tried to pay homage to you in Minecraft. I think I created a monster because you have lovely odd angles that do not translate to a blocky paradise. To be fair I've never seen you in person, just pictures

A thought

Should I become an LLC
Maybe I'd have autonomy
If I became an LLC
Would my government listen to me?
Oh to be an LLC
And not taxed so heavily
If I were an LLC
Is citizenship a commodity?
If so, could it be sold for $5M
So I can immigrate and be free?

Just an odd thought

For a brief time while in my grad program I was a substitute teacher. US Government was my favorite class to sub in because I challenged students to understand that they are more powerful than they know. We are, even when things aren't working as they should. Make them fight for every last inch.

I know that a lot of things are deeply troubling right now. It's important to find joy where we can, to build and nurture community where we can, every moment we can. We are stronger together.

Drink some water, look at a window, check in on a friend and keep up the fight.

For anyone represented by a Republican that refuses to protect our government, our private information, our veterans and others, have you ever looked into options for recall elections? They feel safe from consequences and if you don’t agree with what they are doing you may have means to change it

just start saying this plainly to more people

i'm serious.
The constitution quite clearly gives Congress the power of the purse, a power the Executive branch is pretending it now has.

Or did you not pay attention at all in school?
January 31, 2025 at 6:13 PM
Please contact your representative in congress about the blatant power grab that the presidential memo M-25-13 represents! Congress has the power of the purse not the president, not the executive branch. The executive branch exists to execute and uphold the rule of law not to dictate from on high.
