Thank you! It’s a great experience and so much more than watching the riders race by. 🙂

No - I’ve not heard of it to be honest. Will have to look into it.

Oh no! I’m so sorry you got hit with food poisoning while on your adventure! Hope you are able to plot back a return to these magic mountains! 🙏🏼

It will be interesting to see what the final road repairs will end up like.

Thank you! Oooh what an awesome part of France you’ve settled in! Still for us to discover but very keen to so so. Everything we have heard about it has been great!

Thank you - glad you liked it! Part two should be out in the next week. Some climbs were definitely slogs and it was very different to riding these roads on our lightweight road bikes. Definitely felt like we earned the views! Looking back on it now and definitely plan to do it in reverse now too

Enjoy!

It was the toughest day of our Raid - approached via the Route de Corniche so Marmare and Chioula first. No lunch to be found other than an overpriced crepe at the top of Chioula. Broken by the time we rolled into camp from Pailheres - then the next morning woke up to a toad under the ground sheet!

It was cold! We did contemplate sleeping in the small hit at the summit but made for a slow descent to a campground near Queriguet. Fog, thunder, rain. Hardest day of our traverse but of course the beat stories come from those days!

I’m contemplating doing the route in reverse - from the Med to the Atlantic so perhaps I’ll get to see it with blue sky!

That’s what it looks like!!! Was a complete white out when I climbed it during our raid traverse! Made for an eerh experience…descending straight into a thunderstorm!

Part of me died on the final 3kms from the approach via Escot! Do not know how I did that with the panniers strapped on. Never been so broken!

I’ve ridden sections of the V81 and it’s good. Nice use of quiet D roads as well. No need to feel wimpy either - not every ride needs to be a slog up a mountain!

We left from St Jean de Luz as well. Best ride I’ve done
