Is there a playing rule about including a specific number of familiar pieces in every prime time programme? This, the Sorcerer's Apprentice, Dance of the Hours, a spot of Peer Gynt, a dab of J. Strauss.... With 5+ centuries of music and 50+ years' recordings, I wish there were fewer repetitions.
