We found that touch sensitivity decreased during movement—especially when avoiding spiders and when extending the arm. A control experiment with neutral geometric objects revealed similar tactile sensitivity for arm extension and flexion.

This study adds to our understanding of the robustness of somatosensory perception — even when the body is in motion.

Key findings:
- Tactile sensitivity during resting is remarkably stable over time.

- Tactile suppression during movement also shows stability — but with some fluctuations.

Perceptual measures were highly reliable across sessions.

How stable is our sense of touch over time — especially when we're moving?

We investigated how tactile perception on the finger changes over time. Participants performed a tactile detection task while either resting or moving their finger, over four sessions across a month.

Results showed that adaptation of agency applies across different senses, enhancing our understanding of how we feel in control. This flexibility is key to our interaction with the world.

This study explores how our sense of control over actions (sense of agency) adjusts to these delays. Participants pressed a button, causing a visual or auditory effect with a slight delay. They then judged if actions and effects were simultaneous and if they felt in control.
