Here's a gift link to an op-ed by MLK biographer Jonathan Eig in the Washington Post. He writes quite smartly: "That 'content of their character' quote — taken from King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech — has proved to be one of the most dangerous weapons in the effort to airbrush his legacy."
Opinion | This year, let’s remember King as the radical he was
He never suggested that his dream of a discrimination-free society should make us blind to the persistence of racism.

Who would’ve thought we’d be living these books out? We are in perilous times.

After reading my man Jonathan Eig's Pulitzer Prize-winning "King: A Life," and coinciding with the TRUE history of Jan. 20 (and 15th), I'm 2/3s through re-reading Taylor Branch's Pulitzer Prize-winning opus, "America In The King Years," and started the third installment, "At Canaan's Edge," Monday.

#OTD in 1929, we celebrate Dr. King’s true birthday—separate from the later holiday. The same issues he marched against decades ago still impact our world today.

Let’s remember his example of nonviolent civil disobedience and keep working to make his dream a reality.

For real....
King: A Life, by Jonathan Eig. Not only an engaging biography of Revered Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr; it also contains new source material from taped interviews with Coretta Scott King and MLK, Sr. (as well as recently declassified FBI files).

A majority of pro-book ban school board candidates lost in Texas, but education advocates are worried about other election results.
