30th of June (day 13)
The older two siblings came home with me that day. 13 and 11 days old. The critical phase in which the association to the parent birds happen is over at that stage and my goal was to have them home young to accustom them to all kinds of different inputs.

28th of June (day 11)

They are growing so fast!
Sadly one of the four eggs did not hatch. And to make Ladies job a bit easier Herbert moved the third goshawk to its father for him to raise.

Why THIS Goshawk?
In my opinion it is a very important decision where any animal comes from. Both genetics as well as the chosen way of raising a bird will have lasting effects on the individual in the end.

Why did I choose a goshawk?

As generally goshawks have the reputation to be skittish and prone to screaming and aggression they are not recommended for beginners. But which bird really is?
I had the honor to train and hunt one the year before and I fell in love with them.

[1/2]Who am I?
I am a female falconer living in Germany. 2021 I decided it was time to fullfill one of my oldest wishes: Doing my falconry liscense. So I sat down, made my hunting liscense in 2022 (mandatory for the falconry liscense in germany) and followed it up with the falconry liscense in 2023.

5 weeks later this screaming little creature hatched and started harrassing its mother "Lady" - a female goshawk - for food.

Hi!
This is how our journey started. In May 2024 four white eggs were laid.
Man if I had known what was to come...
I think I would have still done it :D
