2/2 Correia says that the CTIP is responding to South Africa's coal dominated energy sector (80+%).

Yet building vast quantities of renewable electricity to be used to produce green hydrogen, which is then exported, is NOT going to clean up the grid.

Predictably disappointing.

DG TRADE's Dora Correia responds to comments on the #CTIP by saying very little of substance that's not already in existing documents.

Avoids criticisms brought up by South Africa's communities or trade unionists. Says the EU is responding to a call by South Africa ("not our fault, gov").
