A patch Fox taking advantage of a water bucket early this morning.
Spare a thought for our urban wildlife in these temperatures and leave some liquid refreshment out. #FoxOfTheDay

The recent wet weather has given the patch some respite in the last few days. Hopefully a bit more to come🤞but has produced some nice surprises.
A rather magnificent Chicken of the Woods/Sulphur Polypore on this mornings walk.

Kicking myself for not taking a camera out this morning after finding this confiding beauty on the patch.
C’est la vie.
The mobile phone had to do.

Dusky Warbler 褐柳鶯 (LAB634) first captured on 26 February 2011 was re-captured on 15 March 2025.
Fourteen years later, an impressive age.

Could be some interesting cold weather movement if this modelling proves to be accurate.

I’d imagine there aren’t many snow ploughs down there.

Enjoyable yomp around the patch this morning now the flooding has receded. Highlights: 1st Jack Snipe of the winter having failed miserably last winter, exactly the same place I photographed this bird, 2 Woodcock and high count for the patch of Common Snipe + a pair of smart Goosander. #vc55birds

I walked along the canal to the northern edge of the patch this morning, Freemans Weir and the King Power Stadium. Apart from an obvious increase in Common Gull, quiet bird wise but with a darker edge in the winter gloom.
River art or Apocalypse Now?
