This language was in HB1402 and after that bill never made it out of the committee it placed in SB1 knowing it will pass. NO homework was completed by legislators! NO communication from legislators to anyone who would be affected by this! (Except after the vote) The people of local government voted unanimously to pay for FULL TIME fire protection. And now the politicians say they want the local government decide on how they are to achieve fire protection, and now the state comes in and takes over and voted for this bill to pass. I call this micromanaging! After speaking to Ethan Lawson he told me he was in favor of tax cuts but also was pro public safety… kinda confusing, because he voted yes to pass SB1. I dont care how good you are at reading laws and amendments , you can not fully understand it. Especially since it was presented within 48-72 hours prior to votes! Governor Mike Braun spoke at opening ceremonies at FDIC and said he was for public safety. Well if that is the case then he needs to remove this paragraph. Our team followed the IC code to a T and not only they want to cap a new FT at $.40/100. They want to retroactively date this to 12/31/24. Which if we would have know this we could have done something, but we didn’t. *Oh and note the page number this is on We spent a lot of man hours and money to do studies and preparing for meetings and to have a law get yanked out from under you and completely changed after the vote was finalized is completely ( fill in blank ) We are going to continue to try to see if there are alternatives to provide adequate coverage to all residents of South Madison County. even as a strong supporter of a national ems/fire divorce, i'm not optimistic about braun's plan to pull ems out from under dhs. there is not a chance in hell this new "secretary of health and family services" will know anything about ems. this will somehow result in even less funding, i'm afraid.

For 2023, the Immunization Division analyzed immunization rates for completion of the 4:3:1:3:3:1:4 series (4 doses of diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTaP), 3 doses of polio (IPV), 1 dose of measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR), 3 doses of haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib), 3 doses of hepatitis B (Hep B), 1 dose of varicella (VAR) and 4 doses of pneumococcal (PCV)). The annual immunization rate for Indiana is 56.4% for completion of the 4:3:1:3:3:1:4 series at 19-35 months and nearly 90% of our counties were at or above the rate of 50%. These rates were obtained from the Indiana Children and Hoosier Immunization Registry (CHIRP).
