This is a view of the confluence of the Whychus with the Deschutes, down in that canyon, 600 feet below. I went here today to see where I'm headed from the other end, tracing the Whychus.

I headed uphill to get closer to the peaks and glaciers, walking along some snowshoe trails until I reached the snow. This charred tree caught my eye. This was a big snow year for this part of Oregon.
