I headed uphill to get closer to the peaks and glaciers, walking along some snowshoe trails until I reached the snow. This charred tree caught my eye. This was a big snow year for this part of Oregon.

The Ancient Survivor
The Appalachian mountains created a wind shadow for the from the meteor strike, which allowed magnolias to survive. The bloom of the mountain magnolia is one of my favorite flowers.
