The BBC globe had a good innings, and the balloon was a helluva victory lap. But it was time for Auntie to stop considering herself The Entire Earth. This is a good reminder that having sat at my desk to do something worthwhile, the socials sometimes just exacerbate the loneliness of being here. But as soon as I actually get stuck into whatever it is I sat down to do, I'm contentedly engaging with the details of the activity – and time flies.

I'm really obsessed with the soffit controls in the Tardis from #DoctorWho seasons 10 to 13. Just under the ledge, there. If anyone spots those panels in some other show I'll be shocked. I think we might never really get a good look at them...

Even bizarre developments in the last five minutes couldn't wreck 'Q Planes' – not even Laurence Olivier going Rambo with a machine gun. Everyone was good in this, keeping it afloat throughout.

A few short mins into 'Q Planes' and Ralph Richardson is on fire. It's clear how Patrick Macnee would want some of this in his portrayal of John Steed. And the bantz – it's like they filmed the speed run and didn't bother with the real take! Though part of that is the 24FPS wrongly telecine'd at 25.

As business, legal and government clerks adopted it we got the words 'chancery,' 'chancellor,' 'cancel' and 'incarcerate' – to put 'behind bars.'

I meet people of many different nationalities every day. I'm pretty good at pronunciation so I can make the experience of learning names fun. But I simply cannot keep Derek Jacobi's name at my fingertips. It conflicts with my memory of this law firm that marketed on national television. #brainulons
