She'd had a husband once, he had been terrible.

"You are happy, then?"

Arms sliding around him, her body pressed to his. Warm to cool, between them was something juuuust right.

The kiss was the reassurance that she needed. Though in truth, she was happy about it all, and if he wasn't... well... She would have continued to bring their child into the world anyway.

For a moment she thought about mentioning that she didn't think he was fertile, but men didn't like that. -

“It was Discordia who realised. Probably why she left so suddenly, she’s not a fan of children. Or reproduction. Or… well, what leads up to it.”

She was now rambling. Worried that he’d be displeased.

“Oh, well, I know we didn’t discuss it, but I’m expecting. I was going to place two teaspoons by my cup, but I wasn’t sure if you knew about that.”

In her time, it’s how they announced these things since saying it out loud was not done.

Winnifred smiled at him. -

“Spider-Talia, Spider-Talia, does whatever a spider can!”

“Can she hang from a web? Yes she can!”

Were those the right words? Did it matter?

“Watch out, here comes Spider-Talia!”

A slow breath and she nodded, looking pleased.

“I’m fine, Matthew. Just a little faint. It’s to be expected, and honestly, it’s preferable to the nausea. It’s a good sign, really.”

"Cucumber and mint sandwiches?"

She got up to follow and help him make the tea, but was hit by a wave of light-headedness and sat back down.

"I think maybe I'll lie down on the sofa for a small rest."

Maybe an hour of playing piano without having eaten was a bad idea. And yet, so fun!

"I would love that, honestly."

After about an hour, she'd tired herself out, and her list of memorised songs.

"Now, I think I'm hungry."

Maybe... Maybe not.

Honestly, he's probably not going to pull her away from the piano any time soon. Discovering that he had one had been a joy.

Finding that it had been kept in tune was a delight.

"Perhaps we could go to the orchestra one night?"

She'd moved on to Für Elise, eyes closed and body swaying, smiling softly.

"I love the way the soundwaves cascade across the ceiling of a well designed orchestra house. They move like water, pooling and billowing out in little eddies. -

"Well, everyone who truly understands music. And you have the sort of old soul that feels the music in a deep place."

"Closely followed by Tchaikovsky, I think? But Tchaikovsky deserves a full orchestra."

"It's everyone's favourite." She replied, her fingers hitting the piano keys with the sort of ease that a long life of practice brought. She was good with anything that involved her fingers, especially if it meant she didn't have to think too much while doing it. -

"Then I can serenade you."

She grinned, moving her legs down and fixing her position in the seat.

"The one thing my Mother forced me to do that I came to love. Piano lessons."

And of course she chose Moonlight Sonata because was there a more beautiful piece ever composed?
