This past year, I got back into reading in a way I haven’t done since I finished grad school. I read a lot as a kid, and getting back into reading fiction, nonfiction, essays, comics, and zines, I’ve remembered what it’s like to read something that speaks to you in an incredibly personal way. As we enter the New Year remember fear of making bad art is holding you back. Fear of people not liking your work is holding you back. Rejection is holding you back

You'll make bad art, you'll have people not like your work, and you'll be rejected. Moving past it is half the job of being a creative

Because the world is a garbage fire, I don’t always feel like I have permission to make the art I’m most drawn to creating — stuff that’s stupid, silly, or just art for art’s sake (like this thick eyebrowed leaping critter). (1/7)
