oh! and for the past couple months, I've been playing Stardew Valley every Sunday with some younger family members. we've gotten to the point where it's just a given that we'll all be logging on at 2pm. it's my favorite game ever, and so fun to share it with them.

we may need to camp out in our rental after all our stuff is moved, while they patch things up! on the plus side, in one corner of the kitchen, I can finally get a glimpse of what it will be like it’s finally all done. 😍

four days before we were set to move into the house we’ve been renovating for 5 months, the first big rain of autumn hit and created a leak through the ceiling. 😬 a plumber and roofer working together ID’d a faulty 100-year-old lead pipe as the culprit. they‘re going in through the closet today.

every year I hire an artist to draw my family for our holiday card and the process makes me so happy! this year it feels even more meaningful because ai is everywhere.

here are 2021 + 2018. 💛 credit to @schrill-art.bsky.social + @ghost_puff on instagram

gonna try a little harder to get off Instagram in the second half of this year. a lot of my favorite features are gone or messed up — including my hashtags for my cats and plants, which don’t even show up anymore. here’s what I see when I click on a hashtag now (left) vs what I used to see (right)

last weekend was portland’s thai festival. it rained on saturday, so most people (including me) went on sunday. the crowds made it hard to try a lot of things, but I had these amazing ‘hotcakes’ with green onion, ube, and corn. so, so good.

wow, so a bunch are from my trip to the Oregon coast in 2023. they managed to capture the magic of the light there, in a way my phone camera didn't.

in 2022 I changed my relationship to the word 'quitting' by leaving a job with nothing else planned. it changed how I'll think about quitting forever. this upcoming workshop for library workers has the same vibes.

last friday i bought a membership to the oregon zoo, and I’ve already gone three times since then. i don’t have mountains to hike in my neighborhood like I did in california, but watching mountain goats graze is pretty good nature therapy too.
