Gee, I wonder where I was born then (early 1960s).

(This particular Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh PA was founded in 1887 and has undergone a number of incarnations and building changes since then. But it very much exists.)

Well, no question which one is my personal favorite. Already posted it before.

And yes, I know how to follow directions, FGM / MSFGB. Photo goes into a QUOTE of the post, not a reply.

My brother's other dog, Loki, a black lab. He's older and much more gentle and calm tempered.

Just got back from a week-long trip to visit family, and it was amazing, but I'm glad also to be back home.

Alas, this rambunctious fellow, Ranger (chocolate lab, 18mo, my brother's dog), accidentally pranged my right knee pretty hard a couple nights ago. He's both sorry and sad I had to go.

Hmm...let's see if Nope Badger works.

Not even close.

Special evening snack treat today: Chocolate Almond Crush Pocky.

OMG, they're so good.

(One serving = 7 sticks = 110 cal, 12g carbs, 2g protein, 6g fat.)

(Not a paid endorsement, just me rando-posting.)

My 'signature' hat, which for some reason keeps generating compliments, even though I bought it on a lark from a touristy shop in Half Moon Bay, CA about 25 years ago. Seriously, it's not fancy or expensive or anything. Just a plain felt hat.

Even older gals can still get a bit swole if we work at it...

(Results of roughly 4mo of daily intense workouts, starting from an extremely sedentary lifestyle.)

Passage from 'Impossible', vol 4 of my recent series, regarding what laws can and can't do. Namely enforce themselves.

Reminds me of MLK Jr's Letter from a Birmingham Jail, and a particular quote regarding 'moderates'.

This passage in particular resonated:

We used to own a property in the Santa Cruz mountains that had 10 wooded, wild acres of redwoods, oaks, and madrones.

I even made a desk out of a slab from an old-growth trunk I found there.

Me, of course. I look great in hats.

Yeah, but... it's still cool.

(Enterprise NX-01 refit, of which I possess a model. I appreciated the fact that young Jean-Luc had one as a kid and somehow they got hold an Eaglemoss original, same as mine, for the scene.)

Too tired to think = the fucking brain hamsters are too exhausted to chew at my psyche.
July 23, 2025 at 4:30 AM
That's my job, obviously.

Today's photograph, actually taken last night: This is known generally a "Four O'Clock", aka Mirabilis, most notable in that when active, their flowers only open late in the day. They grow wild here.

I love the intense color.

Here you go.

Random observation: Adding running to my daily exercise regime has strongly suggested I need to find some way better full-support sports bras… The old ones just ain't doin' their job properly. (Ouch.)

Anyway, here's a firecracker plant (Penstemon eatonii). They're related to regular penstemons.

Up late as usual. Weird mood, yet again.

Feels like riding a rollercoaster of emotions at times, when I'd rather be all calm, cool, collected and in complete control of my unruly brain hamsters.

Little fuckers are epinephrine, norepinephrine, and cortisol junkies.
