Bad-faith narrators will ignore the power imbalance here and make this a story about innocent Christians persecuted for their beliefs, but they are ignoring the patterns of colonialism. “We are going to win Seattle for Christ” isn’t a desire for freedom of religion, it’s a threat to dominate.

This is footage from Saturday’s rally at Cal Anderson park. Notice the aesthetics—one of these groups is dancing and singing songs while they are physically protected by cops in riot gear. Protesters are angry because it’s clear whose voice is being heard and whose rights are being protected.

I was there, and there’s a lot I could say about this! Part of their playbook was looking innocent. Dressing in bright colors, bringing their children, singing uplifting worship songs. In contrast, the protesters LOOKED like bad actors. But one of these groups had more real power.

My favorite part of his Wikipedia page is the part where he was sued for cutting down his neighbors’ trees to improve his view. You know you have messed up when tree law is involved.

A few shots from the Seattle #fiftyfiftyone protest today.

I have been to a few Seattle protests, and every time the vast majority of the crowd is over 50. The vast majority of the population under 50 works in tech, so you can put that one together. What would it take to get tech workers more involved?

Here’s a classic Fox News trick: don’t cover the story, cover the opposition response. Whether they say it is “hysterical” or “deafening silence”, both paint the actual story as a non-issue before anyone even reads rest of it. These were both at the top of the website this week.

Okay now I just want to know who is making 920K/year as an engineering manager.

I will keep these decorative squirrels for the rest of my life and let my children dispose of them when I die, because that is the time-honored family tradition I feel I must carry into the next generation.

I was looking through my grandma’s photos from the 1930’s and here she is with her pet opossum. I had a lot or questions, but good for her I guess!

A few years ago we were doing repair work in the basement and it was Lucy’s day to go to the vet. Master of stealth indeed!

For some reason I went to Las Vegas this weekend, and I think I’m set for another 10 years. It has been real, and I’m glad to be going home.

This isn’t a particularly good photo, but this north Seattle from above, and I love it because it was the first time I landed in Seattle and felt like I was coming home.
