I don't post often and make art even less often (even though I want to do it more), but I have made stuff to share - these characters are for a comic I want to make. 👀
Brassica, the cabbage boy, being lifted above a fence by 'God' who bares a bright halo surrounding a rose that's growing on top of their head, sprouting from a patch of leaves they have for hair. Insects crawl all over God's face. God gives Brassica a shit eating smirk while saying: "You know, when they said 'the grass is always greener on the other side.' this wasn't what they meant, dummy." Brassica turning slightly towards his deity friend tells them "Just shut-up and lift me higher." "Was buying this firefly lantern really the best you could give me?" Brassica asked the feathered deity behind him. "Yes." God said with a matter of factness. "You can't just make the rain go away?" "Why should God destroy Eden for your temporary convenience? God will not do for you what ResFactoris does every day." They snarled. "But ResFactoris made this lantern." "And God used your money. >:)" "Really?" "Really. :)" They both walked down the cobbled streets of town. Pitch black clouds blanketed the sky. It was going to rain hard. It had already rained earlier, enough for the fish to use the roads as rivers. The pair had seen some seaweeds schooling them around earlier, trying to get them to the next body of water for grazing the dead. They passed by house after house, inhabited by their plant folk. Brassica could just make out the silhouette of a flower holding a newborn in their pot. He started to let his mind wander, only for God to shatter the silence. "But if you really want God to do more for you..." They ran into Brassica's way, "... you can always follow God's light." Their nuclear-hot halo brightened slightly, illuminating the entire roadway and revealing another school of fish who seemed to have lost their seaweed owner. The heat brought Brassica warmth, yet still. "I'm going my own way." He said. "Your way, or Mr. Gardener's way?" They snarled back. Brassica remained silent, and God, satisfied with that answer, turned and started hop scotching on the water crosswalk - a piece of architecture for impoverished towns who couldn't afford bridges. Brassica carefully crossed the same crosswalk, careful not to slip on the wet stones. Part way across, God gave their final word from the other side. "Enjoy your glimmer of light for the storm ahead." And that was it. Brassica felt the heat of their halo die away. He looked back up to find his insect covered friend missing. All that was left were the fireflies, and soon too the harshness.
