Commonly, ketamine is used as an anesthetic at higher doses for mammals in surgeries, but sub-anesthetic doses produce psychedelic and dissociative effects (Kraus et al., 2019).

Based on this description, I wouldn’t call it an upper either way

And just so I can be clear about this: my initial reaction was shock and my thoughts immediately went to “what a racist pos”. I can’t even remember ever seeing a person of color referee a premier league game, that must absolutely change. My hope is that we never let Marriner live it down.

Re: seeing this joke differently, I can definitely understand and appreciate that. Many fans understood that reference, but jokes that require having historical context will not land with everyone. I think one way to fight racism is to endlessly mock racists for being thick clowns.

This is something even Arsenal players lampooned. I remember this post by Jack Wilshere, for example.

@herrtolf.bsky.social’s joke is on Andre Marriner and the absurdity of the moment, not on anyone finding it funny when white people can’t tell black people apart. I’ve never found that funny and while I can’t speak for others here, I don’t think anyone is laughing at /that/.

There are multiple @dril.bsky.social tweets that come to mind, but it’s even funnier when you’re putting it in the newspaper yourself

Oh my word, you’re so mad. This is very much part of Arsenal fan lore, it was such an absurd moment that all who saw the match remember. Just look at the amount of comments on this 10-year anniversary thread: www.reddit.com/r/PremierLea...

It’s ok not to know it! Just say “oh, ok” and move on!

Depends on how many games it took and more importantly, what comes after. Gotta score four goals before you get to five 🤷‍♂️
November 1, 2025 at 7:12 PM
This is especially pertinent when you look at the opposition xG for both Villa and Liverpool: the goal output is close to the xG tally. But Liverpool significantly underperformed their xG, and Villa significantly over-performed theirs. But we’re talking about less than 10 goals each!
November 1, 2025 at 4:33 AM
Funny thing is that with a small sample size, xG is likely not going to be a determining factor. But over the course of a season, it’s likely to revert to the mean. In other words: statistically speaking, Liverpool had slightly better odds to have picked up more points. But margins are small!
