Today did not go as planned. Gus had the sutures removed. The vet found an infection so 2 more weeks of cone + meds.
Then, he had a scab on the end of his tail that subsequently fell off and left the tip of his tail unprotected, raw, new skin. So, he’s back at the vet under medical care.

Well you guys did it! Everyone who spared a good thought for Gus and I really helped. He was an angel again last night. He woke up at 4am when Beau was grexing, let out two woos, & went back to sleep until 5:30, when it was med time. Can’t blame him.

Well you guys did it! Everyone who spared a good thought for Gus and I really helped. He was an angel again last night. He woke up at 4am when Beau was grexing, let out two woos, & went back to sleep until 5:30, when it was med time. Can’t blame him.

Gus slept like a baby last night, didn’t make a peep until 4am. I know, still early but at least we both got many hours of uninterrupted sleep. AND…he went BACK TO SLEEP at 4 until it was breakfast time! I feel almost human again! Happy Friday!

Finn needs surgery next week to remove a growth on his elbow. Vet doesn’t believe it is malignant but did a slide. I haven’t heard back yet, but I’m not terribly concerned.
Gus’ sutures will be removed by then so I won’t have to deal with him being crankypants (hopefully) while Finn recovers.

Hi. My name is Amy. And I am a sucker. I am easily swayed by Gus whining and go down even when not strictly necessary because of the pitiable noise he makes. I know he is fine but am concerned that he may have gotten his tail wet again and is freaking out. He is not. I am just weak. :)

Gus is home, in a crate in the basement, which is where he would normally eat and stay while I'm out. (It's fully furnished) No muzzle. Soft collar. And he's doing pretty good! I just had him out to potty. He did go after his stump, couldn't reach it.
I'm cautiously optimistic.

#DogsOfBluesky Verdict is in; Gus has to have a partial amputation on Wednesday. The last thing I wanted but the vet today said that the tip was already dying. I am trying to reconcile all this. I know it is an accident, I know I tried my best. Always will for my boys. Good night.

Rough night and morning with Gus. He fought his meds for over 2hrs. Scraped his tail. AGAIN. No blood, just scrape, but still, not good. The scrape from last night recovered pretty good so I'm hoping this one will too.

Gus’ tail continues to improve. He is listening to my calm commands and leave it for the mist part. Still can’t leave him for periods of time but I hope that’ll end soon.

They gave me a new ecollar which is STILL too short. They think I should cage him. That would make him the opposite of calm and unless it was SO small that he couldn’t turn around, he’d hurt him more.

Gus’ vitals are fine but his bandage is leaking a clear fluid. Still pretty agitated. There is a VERY loud bird in the building. Or maybe it is the Guinea Pig that was waiting. Questioning my ability to discern animal noises. Hope you guys are having a better Friday.
