The thing with Gary Neville that has been abundantly clear for a long time is that he’s a busy guy and he just doesn’t watch football anymore. The only games he watches are the ones he works on, which is why he transitioned to lazy, narrative based analysis. He should hire a researcher.

I think a truism of football coverage now is that if you win the league or Champions League, you get a decade or so grace period where everything that goes wrong is bad luck. If you haven’t, everything that goes wrong is evidence of incompetence or weakness.
I'm actually seeing articles this morning saying that City are struggling because they're 'running on empty'.

Currently, they only have Rodri out, and a big squad.

Compare and contrast to the Arsenal coverage, in a season where we're outperforming them comfortably despite everything.

The bigger the game, the better Declan Rice seems to play. Absolutely monstrous in matches like these.

He’s not blowing anyone away, granted, but the persisting negativity around Martinelli is weird to me when he’s been one of our better players recently.

Doing an admirable job, as a service-oriented attacker, in a team that has been very average at creating from open play this season.
Gabriel Martinelli has scored three goals in four starts in the Premier League since Bukayo Saka got injured.

The Brazilian is slowly getting back to his best.

Cold light of day, the number of injuries and the amount of energy Arsenal are putting into every game, every three days. I just can’t be hugely angry with players or coach. I think they’re short and they’re giving absolutely everything. The guys upstairs need to help them now. I need their energy.

I got my season ticket in 1992 so when I say I’ve seen some great defenders I’ve seen the best. Gabriel Magalhães stands shoulder to shoulder with the best I’ve seen.

Cunha is quality. Not an obvious fix for us ie not a direct winger or a ‘9’, but backfills for Trossard and Sterling going in the summer. Personally see him as a replacement for Trossard.

“Are they just bad players, incapable of reading a situation? Or have they been slowly stewed in a culture where total commitment is an acceptable substitute for judgment?”

Lads, it’s @jonathanliew.bsky.social on Tottenham.

Spurs can win spectacularly and are a lot of fun but they could have had Arne Slot in 2023 and instead have the same pot of relaunched stasis

Setpiece routines often show you what a team thinks of an opposition goalkeeper. Arsenal treated Onana like something between Vicario and a 10-year-old mascot that won a competition to start in goal. Rightly so.
